I picked up a very nice 17-3 today with serial number 5K8165X, if anyone could give me a date for it I would be very thankful.

5K73,963 – 6K58,917....1974 (manufacture)
According to the Catalog, it would be 1974. S&W Customer Service may be able to provide a month and day.
