17-3

Yup-believe it or not, $700 for a pristine M17 isn’t expensive, even without the box and papers.

There's a model 17-? at a gun shop not far from me that's been there for at least 1 1/2 months, priced at $1000. Seems to be okay mechanically but it's seen quite a bit of wear over the years. Personally I wouldn't pay over $400 for it, even if it had box & papers. I believe you did very well at $700. Enjoy your new gun.

9 years ago I paid $700 for the same thing, a 6" 17-3 in perfect condition, no box. I've never regretted it for a second.

About 9 years ago I paid $650.00 OTD for my 17-3 in excellent condition although not as nice as you describe yours to be . It was a decent price at the time and I have no regrets.
I would say $700 for the one you are looking at would be a pretty good price.
Also you might get more responses if you posted this in the correct forum ....your 17-3 would have been made in 1972-1973 or there abouts . You posted in the 1980's and later S & W .
