Gentlemen,
I recently after years of looking acquired a 17-8 full lug matte blue 6" 10rd alloy cylinder and I have a question regarding the finish please.
Are these known for rusting very easily? It must be kept literally coated in oil or it will begin to rust overnight. I've owned many blue firearms over the years and have never experienced one that will rust this easily.
Thank you

Hmmmm,

While I do own a similar gun it is a conventional 6 shot revolver and is all steel - never had bluing or rusting issues.

The only thing that comes to mind is that if the cylinder is an alloy and the rest of the gun is steel, maybe you have a two dissimilar metals reaction going on. I am not a metallurgist but I know from working with copper plumbing that two different metals can sometimes corrode each other if they touch.
