Anybody know where all the 17 mach 2's are hiding? I wonder if the ammo manufacturers put them on the back burner to catch up on 22 demands.

The same place as all the 22 LR's I guess, the hoarders and black market dealers must have them all. Can't find either around here.

Based on comments over at Rimfire Central, CCI will continue to "occasionally" manufacture it for Hornady (apparently like always), but it will now only be marketed through Hornady. Eley gave up on it a couple of years ago; darned shame cause that was some good stuff. It's been tough to get and its availability will likely get worse. Prices are escalating, which negates its attraction as ammo that could provide nearly the performance of 17HMR at around half the cost. Consensus seems to be that it's in a death spiral. -S2

Agreed. As much as I thought the M2 to be the perfect back yard round, I could see it fading into history as rifle manufacturers discontinued that chambering. I figured it was either time for a lifetime buy of ammo or to sell the rifle. I did the latter.

I will be very sad if the round goes away. It's already hard to find currently. My Marlin 717 is phenomenally accurate. I'm an accuracy buff and this rifle/ammo amazes me! BTW I shoot CCI ammo in it.

I get the best accuracy from CCI ammo which is 90 fps slower than other brands in my Kimber rifle. RimfireCentral forum paints a grim picture for the future for the M2 and I hope they are mistaken. With Eley no longer making the ammo others could follow, let's hope not.

I am in the same boat as you guys. I have a nice Marlin heavy barrel stainless steel bolt action. It is a tack driver. I have one brick of ammo for it. I should have stocked up on ammo. I didn't even shoot it last year. Oh well. I will buy some more ammo if I can find it at a reasonable price.

Eley 17 Mach 2

I have 10 boxes Eley 17 Mach 2 W/Hornaday V-Max bullets and no longer have a gun for them. $100 plus shipping from Texas. I'm new to this forum & not sure if this post is in the right place. Still available 11/8/2014 ! ! !

The 17M2 is hiding with the 5mm Remington, 32 RF Long and a bunch of other similar cartridges.

Since it is not a reloadable item...........
I surely hope that they don't stop making it. There would
be a lot of unhappy gun owners left with a nice looking piece of junk.
