A good friend of mine recently turned 80 and has been reducing his inventory of S&W parts and accessories. He gifted me a Hogue mono grip for a K frame and my issue was deciding got K frame to wear them.

The choice came down to the 18-3. The standard magna grips are comfortable enough but, the "new" grips fill and fit my hand better. Before and after photos are attached. He gave me the belt buckle last year.

If the Hogue wood grips fit your hand well, then why not. Since recoil is near a non-issue, if they feel good when you first pick up your 18, with these installed, you are ready to try live fire.

I have hogue monogrips on several revolvers - model 19-3, model 67 and a Ruger Security Six. They are well made, fine looking and comfortable shooting.

I like the way Hogue's fit my big hands. Here is my model 65. There used to be an older lady that came to the Tulsa show that had tables full of most brand grips. You could pick your favorite grain and color.
