I just picked up a pretty much mint 18-3. I just now joined this site. Where would one look for a set of original target grips? It has the TT and TH.
How old is a S/N that starts with 6K?
It will make a great companion to my old model 41.

Most likely, 1974.

Congratulations on a great find and welcome to the Smith & Wesson Forum!

Look for "Football Targets on Ebay, or post in the "want to buy" on this forum. You may also find what you're looking for in the "Accessories for sale" forum on this site.

Thanks. I lucked out. I went back to the store to put a deposit on a 4" 617 and the 18-3 had just come in. Same price as the 617 @$799 but it was mint and the action feels much better. It's a classic.
FYI...I saw somewhere to use yellow dry wall anchors for snapcaps to dry fire it and they work great.

was this at a Bucks Co. shop starting with a "T"? If so, saw it also, almost came home with me, but tried hard to "behave"

Yes it was the T shop. I figured I might not see an 18 in that shape for a long time and I'm already old so I had to buy it.
The folks there are very nice to deal with.

Jack, that is the only shop that I frequent regularly. I've sold a deceased friends collection there and they gave his wife great prices. I was there and sold a rifle and pistol the day I saw that 18-held it for a few minutes, thought hard, then put it back. If it had the box I would have it and not you. Glad that it went to a good home, especially a local one. It was very tempting for sure.
