Would like to use my 625-3 for my club's "defender pistol" matches.
Have experimented with regular LSWC 185s and 200s (of which I shoot lots in 1911s). These are less than graceful when loading with moon clips, however.
I have a free bonus box of the Hornady 185 XTP that I'd like to try. They will load fine in clips.
Have read that lots of top competitors use 185 JHPs (mainly Nosler) in their target loads.
As most load data are bottom feeder specific, just wondering if anyone has found a sweet revolver-specific load?
Or, are the pistol data good enough?

I recently got a new to me 625 JM and just stuck my regular 45 ACP loads in the clips and banged away. Shot just fine, it was weird almost no recoil and NO picking up brass which is the best part!!

So I would just use regular loads, but I have not shot the revolver much yet. XTP's are accurate bullets.

I don't know what power level you use for a "defender pistol" target match but if you what a good load for your revolver, Power Pistol is a great powder. You didn't say whether you're using ACP or AR cases, but either one the same loads are good ranging between 8.2 - 9.5grs, for 185 JHP. I use P-P in my 45 Super loads, with either Starline Super or Auto Rims cases in my 325NG too. The jacketed bullets load & go in a little better than LSWC when using moonclips but I think the main cause of them hanging up is the sharp edge on the cylinder's chamber mouth. My 325NG is in S&W repair for some warranty work & I'm going to have them chamfer the cylinders, which will hopefully allow the cartridges to drop in more smoothly & take care of that. The revolver can handle a wider range of loads without the issues related to loading for a 1911.

I use 185gr LSWC over 5.0 to 5.5gr of Solo-1000 in my 625-9. They load fine with moonclips but if you're concerned with getting every ounce of speed out of the reload you may want to open up your charge holes a little.
