1880-90's Police issues

Hello,
Does anyone have pictures they could post of 1880-90's police issued 32's or 38's. Specifically letter/numbers stamped on either side of frame? I'm considering a new purchase that was stamped after manufacture on both sides of the frame. One over the access panel on the left side, and opposite side on frame. It has a letter and a couple numbers. Thinking it might have been a police issue but no idea which major city it would have been.

This was stamped on both sides. BTW, it's a Merwin Hulbert in 32 cal.
