I was recently given a Nickel plated 1898 Rast Gasser. The revolver appears to be in excellent condition. Very little wear on the finish, usual wear on the inside of the trigger guard and hammer. The gun has the Rast & Gasser Wien marking on the frame below the cylinder. The serial numbers match and begin with GL. I was skeptical of the condition, believing it was refinished but the internal parts are nickel as well. I do not believe you can nickel plate over bluing ( I may be wrong). It has no sentimental value to me or the previous owner and finding ammo for this caliber is next to impossible so I don't plan on keeping the gun. I would like to get a value of the revolver for possible sale or trade. I am attaching a picture and have more to share if anyone is interested. Thanks

I know some form of Gasser revolver saw action in WWI, probably with German or Austria-Hungarian troops.

Looks an interesting wall-hanger.

If you reload, there might be brass available somewhere or a way to form it.

A friend had one several years ago. He shot 32 S&W longs in it. They are an interesting revolver.

If you haven't already watched this, C&Rsenal's video on the Rast-Gasser has a lot of good info. It's part of their ongoing bi-weekly series on WW1 Firearms.

My local gun store has 8mm Gasser on the shelf.

I think Fiocchi makes it.
