19-2 3"

I know that a 19 3 inch is rare. What is a fair price for one? I spotted one on GB, that has some holster wear, but is it worth 2K.
I have a three inch 66 and the 19 would be a nice mate for it.

Given previous threads about these guns, it wouldn't be surprising to see it finish north of $3,000. There weren't that many manufactured.

Depends on condition and accessories, but one in the original box and rated at 99 percent will cost between $3500 and $4500.

Saw one at a gun show last year, looks a great deal like the one on GB, and the seller wanted $4000 for it. I was interested, but not quite that interested.

Another thing to put on the LONG list of things to pick up when I finish this darn time machine.......

I was just talking with my dad about this. The "ugly ducklings" back in the day that nobody wanted, are now the rare pistols that everyone longs to get ahold of. Look at the prices on a 3" Python. On GB the cheapest one is around $9000 and they go up into the $15000 range. But.... WHO wanted a 3" Python back in the day????? Nobody, so not many were made.

IIRC only a few hundred 3" 19s made ..... some w/fixed sights ..... all were special order or made for export.

Following on daglockman's comments.... about 5500 3" 66s (-2 to -4) were made in the 80s......... by 1988 they were just sitting on Distributors shelves.

I got my first, with a trigger job IIRC about $40, out the door for $270.........so before taxes about $210 for the gun itself. I was told mine had been in the warehouse over a year.

Funny how that happened. While in PA, I was traveling to a construction jobsite for over a year, and every week i would stop in this really nice LGS. For a year I looked at this gun in the case. Finally I got sick of looking at it and bought it for 475.00. It was a 29-5 Classic DX with a 5" bbl. I bought it new in 95. The test target is dated August 1992. The 5" was introduced in 92, and the whole DX line was terminated in 92. I have tried to find out how many were made, but no info. I will say this, I have never seen another one.

As for the 3"M19, at those numbers, the air is getting pretty thin. Somehow, I do not see myself ever adding to my collection with one of those. But, having said that, i am sure I would love to have one.
