Yikes! If that's yours I hope you escaped unscathed!

And the rest of the story?

Not mine.
It's actually an as is that's currently up for sale online.
Guy got overzealous with hand loads, but apparently walked away without a scratch, so a happy ending fortunately. Lucky for him but not for the gun.

I'll bet that was an exciting moment for the shooter and any bystanders.

I would not be interested in any of the surviving parts on that one, even if the internals look good.

You might be able to re-size that 357 casing.

Saw it on happen in 1976 with a Model 10 when I was in basic LEO training. Fellow recruit just got into reloading and was trying some of his at the range one day. Big no-no using personal reloads in department issued revolvers. He had to reimburse the department for a new revolver. No one hurt.

I have a Colt Trooper MKIII that was given to me that looks similar but not quite as bad. They are a little heavier build than a Model 19. Must have used the same reloads!
That would be an experience you would NEVER forget.

I'd like to know the particulars of what lead up to that. Because you have to do something really wrong for that to happen.

What a shame.

I'll add to what Heinz said. M19s and 29s simply aren't heavy duty guns. Go easy on them.
