19-3 Snubbie

Guns and Diamonds

PS Perhaps someone will find this helpful. When my wife started expressing concern about the number of guns I was aquiring I told her "Honey to a guy these are like jewelry is to a women." Light went on in her head, have heard very little since then.

No!! the jewelry analogy would spell doom. Can we amend it to stockings or pot-holders?[/QUOTE]

Several years ago I spent many weeks on the road for work. Fresh sources for pinned Smiths and plenty of cash to use. One pawn shop had a really nice selection of diamonds. Invited the wife along the next week to pick out a new ring.
That Sunday a coworker's wife said to my wife that I had bought six guns! So after the ring purchase it was the story around church and work that the gun purchases had cost me a diamond.
The true number was closer to ten (including two Model 19-3, an 18-3, and a snub 15. And when the ring purchase was complete, my wife handed me the balance of the cash and told me to get the gun I was drooling over at the time.
The math works out pretty well--she only wants the one ring.

My Two Model 19 Snubbies

I have two. Top a Model 19-5 Performance Center Gun (with Spegel Rosewood grips), bottom an early Model 19-3 with TH, TT, smooth factory Rosewood grips.

K frames are just damned good-looking.

Whoever designed the 19 snub should have been given a full, early retirement, because they created the sexiest revolver ever.
Well, maybe tied with the 6" Colt Python, but lately I'm leaning more toward the K frames.

I had a 6" blue Python...beautiful...a bit clumsy for me due to the frame size. I'll take K's and L's all day...:)

You guys gotta cut this out, Now I've got to go out and find one to add to the collection. That model has awesome symmetry.

Man, I would like a M19 2.5" RBs. Those are beautiful.

I have a M10 2" RB that I like, but being able to consolidate on one pistol caliber, and in a good looker like that is the cat's butt.

Adjustable sights are icing on the cake.

Here are my M19-3s and one M66-1. I don't have an orange, green or white towel though.

I like the way this photo shows the difference between nickel and stainless steel. Nice stable of guns, including the pinto!

here's mine

Had her out today. Agree with others above that there is a certain grace about a 2 1/2 in K frame

Took this 19-3 out for some exercise this past w'end. Participated w/it in the local club's falling plate match. As far as time I didn't stand a chance against the race guns or even semi-autos for that matter. Accuracy was a different story, quite pleased w/it.
While cleaning this 19 this morning got to thinking how my taste in handguns has evolved over time. Got back into shooting in my mid-40's due to taking a small arms weapons course for work using the Berretta 9mm, so semi-autos was where I started. Stumbled into some nice S&W's, 41, 952, 845, 745,...
Started noticing Smith revolvers about the same time I got into reloading, N Frame .41mag and .44spl rang my bell big time (still do). While searching for these I came accross several K Frames, 19's and 66's, that were just too good a deal to pass by. I actually picked up a few thinking one of my buddies would want it. They didn't. A couple weren't even broken in. Would take the K Frames out occassionaly and over time my attraction grew.
A 3" 624 or 657 is massive power to me while a 19 or 66 snubbie has an elegance thats hard to put into words, very pleasing to my eye.
Don't know where I'll evolve to next, pretty certain the label will be S&W.

Please ditch the white towels everybody, black just doesn't photograph well against white.

You fricken guys!!

I just brought my first J-frame home about 2 weeks ago (m36-7) and was feeling like my small collection was complete for the time being...

And now you all have to go and do this!!

I LOVE my 19-3 with 4"bbl... now I have just put a snubby m19 in the spank-bank! Jeez! It never ends..... I'm going to have to leave a trusted friend with my address in case I disappear from the face of the earth... somebody may need to question my wife...

Nice thread!

And nice Pinto BTW! :)

From one Kevin G to another, nice post. K frame snubs do have sex-a-peel. I have a 66 no dash and a 19-3 nickel. I am working on completing the trifecta with a 19-3 blued. Keep it going boys.

S&W 19-3 2 1/2"

I am pleased to see so many good things being said about this fine gun. I thought about posting when I read the thread, your favorite gun, or the one you would never sell, but I let it pass. My 19 saved my bacon three times, a guy with a 38, another with a sawed off 12 ga, and a biker-chick with a Baby Browning. They all fired first.

Since the subject of M19 snubbies has come up, here's a question for all of you. A guy here has an ad in the classifieds of the Maryland Shooters website for a 19 (forget the dash, but it's P&R), nickel, in excellent condition, but no box, papers or tools. In the pictures, it really does look to be in nearly-new condition. He wants $900, though, which I think is high without the box, etc. What do you folks think, considering prices here in the mid-Atlantic are high?
