I finally got my 19-3 back from the smith.
I bought this gun about 3 months ago & told him to take his time 'cause it was going out to be refinished anyway and there was no hurry. Well, he didn't.
Anyway, I'm not going to have her refinished. Other than some honest wear & bit of oxidation, I'm thinking she's in pretty good shape. A little steel wool & some blue touch-up should work and besides, she's got character.
And now, I'm a total K frame fan.

Can someone tell me when she was built please? Serial number is 2K89XX.

Here's a pic of my new to me Model 19-3.

Looks to me like she's ready to go on a date to the range. That's a fine looking Combat Magnum. Congrats and let us know how she shoots!

Bruce - I've got the same situation - picked up a 19-3 (6-inch) at the gun show. Turn line, little holster wear at the muzzle... what to do, what to do.

Being OCD about my guns, I've toyed with the idea of a refinish, but I think you're right - the gun is a shooter, it's been shot, I'm going to shoot it - it's got character (and some cold blue covered it pretty well

Cold blue gives me the shivers, Leave it be.
We all get a few wrinkles as we get older, Well guns get a little worn.
It's character!

I agree with pred. Honest wear looks great on a fine shooter. Don't mess with it, just clean it and shoot it. I've got one in each barrel length just like it and I don't sweat that they have a little wear.
Enjoy,

Thanks all -

And thanks Bob for the ship year of the M19.

Mike - Another nice Model 19 there. I'd sure like to take a look in your safe one of these days. You've come up with some very nice revolvers.

Yep - I'm going to leave her pretty much as is, except for maybe adding a Gloss black Tyler T-grip to her.
