I picked up my first 357 today. While perusing my favorite gun shop a fellow came in looking to sell his revolver. The dealer offered the guy $175 and he walked. I asked the dealer if he minded me following the fellow out and try to work a deal. I ended up paying $220. I figured most any S&W would be worth that. It has a 2.5" barrel and to me appears to be in great condition with only a few minor scuff marks on the barrel. No rust or pitting under the grips. Serial # 1K885xx. Looking for a little help with production year. I have been looking for something similar for awhile now. Some days are diamonds some days are coal. Thanks in advance for any help with what I have here.

Congratulations- Great deal. Right place, right time! It looks like a 1971 model if I read the book right. Enjoy it. Post some pictures so everyone else can also.

You did well!!

That's a great price on one of the finest revolvers ever made.

That is the most desirable configuration of the M-19 and a gun of that description would go for about $550 in these parts. Very well played!!

And it the guy had taken the shop's $175 offer they'd probably have put a price around there on the tag.

Nothing like a 300% or so markup.

I'll take some pic's on Sat. I'll probably need to email them to someone for posting here. I'm not real computer savvy.
