$600 doesn't sound too bad. If I were you, I'd offer $500, and go no higher than $550. Good luck!

When you say "very good" condition, it sounds to me like maybe it's just a shooter. Therefore I'd say $600 is high. That gun in excellent condition is worth $600 easy. The stocks look nice. Do they number to the gun? That's a major asset if they do.

I believe that a 19-4's grips wouldn't number to the gun, as it would be a late '70s vintage, they had stopped matching the grips to the gun in the '60's. I could very well be wrong though.
I think that is a ~$600 gun with $600 being high, I agree there, but I'd not be afraid to pay $600. The 6" Model 19 is such a sweet shooter.
A while back I saw a near perfect 6" 19-2 with perfect Diamond targets, I drooled over it, and was very close to saying I'll take it, but it would have been a safe queen. I have two safe queens, so no more for me, only guns I will shoot.
So I passed and got a well used but nice 686 that I shoot.
So like you, I would recommend offering ~$550, and see if they take it.
That will be fun to shoot, and with a little Mothers and Ren Wax, it will clean up real nicely.

Here in Texas those guns will sell in minutes on our gun board for 600 bucks. The first picture is one that sold for sale at 650. The second picture is of one they are asking 800 The last one for 700 . They are either a 19-4 or -5 with the nickel a -3. 600 is not bad, anything below six is a bargain.

My first thought when I saw it was "I'd pay $600 for that.", which goes along with moralem since I am also in Texas.
That would be tagged at $600.00 at my LGS. I'd offer $550.00 but if they wouldn't take it, and I wanted the gun I wouldn't lose it over $50.00.
Go up on the internet. Try to find one for $550. Remember you can't hold it in your hand to inspect it. You can't evaluate the trigger and the action. You will pay shipping and insurance and run around to get a check and mail it and then wait for it to arrive hoping it doesn't get lost in shipping. I've bought on the net before but I prefer the ones in the local shop. My problem is the local shop doesn't get lot of what I am interested in so I am forced to "widen the loop".

Do the 6" 19s get a premium over the 4"?
Well they did get it sold for $600. I offered $525 i do agree that it probably was worth the $600 but i live on the border so i would have had to get it shipped and pay the transfer fees on top of the purchase price. If it was a 4" i probably would have bought it even at $600.

I've got a late issue 2.5" 19-4 with the grips numbered to the gun. Don't know when they stopped doing that.
