19-4 Wow, maybe too good!

As a final follow up, I took this beauty to a friend of mine who is a long time, big time collector. He put it under the magnifying glass, light box and pulled the grips off to closely examine it. The first thing he did was yell at me for shooting it then he offered me twice what I paid for it.

According to him, it is a virgin, Model 19-4 and almost certainly the only rounds ever put through it were the three original rounds at the factory and the 38 Spl rounds I put through it at the range.

Also, according to him, it still has the, what he called "Cosmoline", under the grips that was on there when it shipped from the factory.

He then asked if he could clean it, which I said sure. he proceeded to take it right back to they way it looked the first time I removed it from the box and took the original photos and gave it a good coat of Ren Wax.

It is now wrapped, in the box and in my safe.

And now the internal battle begins. Shoot it to don't shoot it? Decisions, decisions, decisions. I've got plenty of shooters and field guns so this one will probably stay in the safe.

Bob

Peace Out!

Peace Out!

Shoot it please.
I most likely would not carry it but surely would shoot it.
Matter of fact I should take my Python out and see how I like it.
My second one and
never shot one yet.

I'll shut up now.

You already shot it and took away its unfired condition, so go ahead and enjoy it now.

Buy some 158 gr magnums for it and have fun.

If you don't know how to clean guns well, have your friend teach you so that one day this gun can be passed on to someone else in excellent condition.

Personally, I would not shoot the gun any more than you already have .
Minty guns like this do not come around very often .Sure, It's not a 27-2 , but it's still a great piece , and will climb in value if you take good care of it . You can find shooter grade K frames in the $ 450- $ 500 range pretty easy , so Their is no reason to put wear and tear on this gem . I'd expect your gun would easily sell in the $ 795+ range today to a collector . Two years from now, who knows, maybe a grand .
They don't make this stuff anymore

As long as you clean it properly after use and don't holster it
there is "NO" reason not to shoot and enjoy this fine model 19.
Keep the box and etc. in a safe dry place and you will always
be able to sell it for more than you paid.
You have already shot it and cannot represent it as unfired so
use it for what it was intended and not as a paperweight.

The bottom one was not fired when I got it that I know of. I had too dryfire it. Just got the top one and decided to shoot it. Both are 19-3's. I have a 19-4 I carried 10 years. It has pinned barrel and recessed cylinder and minimal wear. My 19-3 has a gray box.
