hey guys, i'm new to the forum, just stumbled on it while doin a little research on my 19-5.. i mostly shoot shotguns but have probably more than my share of handguns!

i dont think i'll ever sell it, it's been one of my favorite guns of all time and i've had it since it was new and it's still all original with the box. but i'm curious, does anyone on here have any idea how common the extras are that i ordered it with? i've got the target trigger and hammer, as well as the red ramp and white outline.

great forum and lots of good stuff on here!

Welcome and there's no such thing as "more than my share of handguns"!
There's a couple auction sites that's kind of like the eBay of firearms. Gunbroker.com is the one I use when figuring value. Go to the completed auctions for what they're getting rather than what they're asking for.

I think you have a great gun there. I also think it is a twin to my first handgun. PICTURES PLEASE!

In 1972, my mindset was that if a guy had one handgun, one shotgun and one rifle, he would be set for life (oh, the foolish thoughts of 25 year-olds). I decided my handgun would be a 4" Model 19 and ordered one from my local gun shop with the same options as yours.

Six months later, no gun so I widened my search and found one in Philadelphia. I ruined that gun with full-house magnum loads that caused the chambers to go out of round and extraction of fired cases to be all but impossible. Smith & Wesson replaced the cylinder twice but the second time, advised me that they wouldn't do it under warranty again.

Being young and dumb, I decided that the gun's design was poor and sold it. I now have a Model 66 just like it but yearn for another "loaded" Model 19.
