Hello. I have a like-new model 19-5 6" barrel with the original box and everything that came with it, right down to the wax paper the gun was wrapped in. Am I right that a fair value for this piece is in the $800 range? Thanks, Robert in TN

Thanks for all the great input. I'd really like to swap it for a model 57,66, or 29 in similar condition. Would the average retail of those models be similar to that of the 19? I'd be willing to throw in cash if necessary. Again, thanks for all the input. -Robert

The pros are the high condition and completeness of the package and that it's nickel,
The cons are its not P&R and the 6" is less desirable than the 4", 3" or 2.5".

A 29-3 or 66-2 are its equivalents in revision being the first generation of non P&R so would be about equal give or take but depending on condition if you trade towards an earlier P&R gun you are trading up in like condition IMO.

Thanks. I am not familiar with "P&R". My guess is that the "P" is pinned barrel but the "R"? Can you please elaborate on that? -Robert

Welcome to the forum,

Yes P&R refers to two features that were deleted with the 19-5 revision, pinning the barrel and recessing Magnum cylinder charge holes.
Those are present on the previous revisions and while neither affect performance collectors put a premium on them.
