Just looked at a nice condition 19-6 in a local shop. It has a 2 1/2" barrel and original stocks. (Round butt) Condition is very close to being as-new. Unfortunately there is no box with it. Not a refinish, no bluing loss whatsoever, and I would say 98%+ just to allow for the evidence of all 6 chambers being fired. It's that pristine.
I asked twice about the box and it was a no-go. They had $699+tax on it and about the lowest they would go is $650 cash. It's not really what I collect, as I like my half-moon front sights and long action hammers but you goobers have me looking at every S&W revolver now. (Just holding and inspecting it my gut tells me it's definitely worth the $250 more than the typical Airweight J-frame $400 cost.)
Not having the factory box was also a huge detractor for me, as being outside my typical collection interests. If it had had the factory box it would have peaked my interest a little moreso.
All that being said it was a beautiful revolver. The color case hardening on the hammer and trigger was immaculate. Not a scratch or rub on it anywhere, as even the stocks were pristine.
What say you with regards to me passing it up?
