1903 Colt Hammerless

When the disgraced R.L. Wilson was doing research for The Book of Colt Firearms, he put together serial number tables for all Colt models. He made estimates for the shipping years by just spreading the high/low numbers in each year. However, Colt, like S&W, did not ship in SN sequence and sometimes the dates are way off, especially for wartime production...especially for commercial guns sold to the military. Proofhouse and Colt still use these estimates for the online databases. The only sure way to know is research in the Colt Archives for a specific serial number, i.e. get a letter. Base on the first couple of digits I can see, and the finish, I think it will have an interesting shipping destination but if you're paranoid about the number then you'll need to spend the $100 for a letter.

While visiting my recently widowed sister, she said, “Oh, I have something for you.” She handed me an absolutely mint 1903 Colt Hammerless in .32 ACP. Looks like it could be unfired. It had belonged to her father-in-law who was a WWII combat vet and career NCO in the Army.

I’m generally not one to keep my stuff as pristine safe queens, but I’m going to make an exception for this one.

I own some of them and absolutely love them! The one you posted is in incredible condition! The only thing that would sweeten the package is the original box and accouterments. Enjoy it - it's a beauty!

I just got a Colt archive letter for my 1930 manufactured 1903! Get a letter! PM on the mag sent to ya!

Nice pristine pistol!!
