I just picked up a new sw1911 e series and I am very impressed with the firearm fit and finish. Range report to come soon. First off, the gun is absolutely beautiful to say the least. Slide to frame fit is spot on with no slop. No rattles, nice and tight. Safety feels firm not mushy, and trigger feels pretty good. I love front serations on grip and normally dont see that on guns of this price point. Nice undercut trigger lets me get high and tight grip. Nicely crowned barrel and serations on top of slide is nice touch. Novak style 3/dot sights look decent and nice skeletonized trigger and hammer.
I have always passed over the smith e series in the gun case in favor for other offerings, can't believe I waited this long. Best bang for the buck 1911 on the market imo with all the stuff you want and nothing ya dont.

314 posts already and no picture, threads suck without pictures especially when you're the thread starter! C'mon man.
If you think the "E" is something, check out the PC, it's hard to believe they could improve on it, but they did.
So much gun, for so little money, these guns would run $4k and up if custom ordered with these enhancements from a boutique builder.

I think it is odd that the E-Series SC guns come with night sights and the PC version does not.

My E-Series is one of my carry guns and my home defense gun. I modified it with a ambidextrous safety, extended slide release, extended magazine release, magwell and Recover Tactical "jacket" with an integral rail to which I attached a light. Recover Tactical also makes a holster for guns equipped with their products - you have to know to depress the tab that protrudes from the rectangular panel before the gun can be drawn so no safety strap or thumb break is needed.

I keep it in our bedroom inside a Hornady 4800 RapidSafe and load it with 160-grain "Mann Loads."

I have both the E-Series Fastback and a PC 945, would have to agree that if you like the E-Series, try to get your hands on one! what a thing of beauty!

I bought one 12/24/2012.
A few years back I got the bug for a RMR on a 1911 and it was the least valuable 1911 I had so its slide got sent of to Parker Mountain Machine.
As a retired Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, CNC Programmer & CNC Machine Operator I was VERY impressed with their machining of my slide for the Trijicon 1911 RMR adapter.

A good friend who is a 1911 wizard did an action job on it.
It's been a few years since I shot it, maybe this summer.
Cheers

Have to agree with 03hemi , PC guns are the ultimate . If you think the E series are great , try out a 945 or for a top notch gun , an 845 .

Those days, all Performance Center handguns were individually hand assembled and fitted by a master gunsmith resulting in the production of extraordinary pistols.

Once you compare the E series next to the new PC in hand, you immediately know the PC was fitted and assembled by an expert gunsmith.
They feel like "butta" as they say.

Just picked up my 'E' series today, it is the machine engraved version with wooden box. The engraving is cut by machine (not laser etched) and not 'over done'...think I'm going to like it!

Following up with some photos and a serial number question (again!!). The engraved gun came with box and all papers (unfired), so the label dates the gun to June 20, 2022 (code 062022) with a UFE43XX S.N. The PC1911, which I also picked up last week, had no box and thus no label to look at. What I have observed is that dating a Smith by serial number can certainly be a challenge (especially 1911's). Using a little logic, with the S.N. of the PC1911 being UFA42XX, I'm guessing it was made a little earlier, like 20,21, OR 22. Opinions will be appreciated!

Hard to say, PC1911 is still in production, what'd you pay for it because the current MSRP on these is $1849 new and $1679 for the two tone E series, they've gone up considerably.

I traded a S&W Model 21-4 Thunder Ranch (no box or papers) plus $75 out the door. About what I had in the 21-4, I think I did alright. It has certainly been fired, but in excellent shape, only evident wear is the blue on top of the barrel at the ejection port, no nicks or dings and it's 'tight as a drum'!
The E-Series engraved I'm in for just under $1,100 OTD, unfired with all papers, blue box and presentation wooden box...I'm happy!
I'll call Smith and ask about the PC1911 date, just to satisfy my curiosity.

My E was used, but in new condition, the PC came off Gunbroker from a gunshop used but brand new, unfired.

Paid $1000 for the E series and $1,400 for the PC
When released these guns were 1300 & 1400 new.

Just got off the phone with Smith customer service, my PC1911 was made in October 2016, a few years earlier than (I 'thought') my 'E' Series, based on the similarities of the two S.N.'s....guess that's why it's best to call! They are also going to send me (email) a digital copy of the owner's manual.
