Hello to all, I have been thinking about adding a new S&W 1911 e series full size pistol to my collection . To keep my S&W 1911sc PD commander company . The S&W PD has been an outstanding pistol I have had the pistol since 2005 . To all the E series pistol owners. Whats the good , bad and the ugly in your experience with the E series 1911. All opinions welcome . Thanks in advance.

I always buy S&W except 1911's. The 1911PD is a very nice firearm, but your money can go further with a lot of competitors. Everyone makes 19111;s now and the differences are often only the price.

I have an E Series blued LW Commander-sized 1911 I traded for new a year or so after they came out. Replaced the ambidextrous safety with an old standard GI issue low-profile left-side only safety to reduce width.
Have not shot it a whole lot. Nice gun though. As good as anyone could ask for.
With all that said, I have an old Springfield Armory black enamel paint-looking finish, full-length 1911 with an aluminum frame and loose barrel bushing and later added beavertail grip safety that shoots as reliably and as accurately as my E-Series gun Bought it new over 25 years ago.
