1911 Magazines

Wilson mags work in every 1911 I have tried them in (3 Colts, 3 S&Ws, a Springfield and an old mixmaster 1911A1).
The S&W 1911s that my wife and I own work with every magazine we have ever tried in them (Wilson, Colt, Springfield, ACT, Mec-Gar).
My wife's Springfield does not like one of the mags it came with, but otherwise works with all of the mags I listed under the S&W 1911s.
My Colts never worked with Colt mags, were hit and miss with Mec-Gar and ACT, and I have never tried the Springfield mags in a Colt. The only Colt I have left, a Combat Elite, will only work reliably with Wilson mags.

I wound up refitting some of my Colt and Mec-Gar mags with the Tripp conversion kits because the Tripp followers won't chew up alloy frames like the stock Colt followers can. They work great in my SW1911PD and my wife's Springfield Champion.

I've used Wilson Combat 47Ds for my reloads for many years, and the OEM Kimber flush mag for my carry mag. I've recently changed from the 47Ds to Wilson ETMs. The overall length of the ETM mag is the same as the overall length of the 47D, but the ETM has a longer body (but slimmer base pad). As a result, I find the ETM mag is easier to seat in the gun when I have a round in the chamber than the 47D.

I have only recently heard about the ETM magazine and springs. In fact, I just ordered some springs/followers from Midway and they are apparently for the ETM magazine according to the sticker on the package they came in("Spring/Follower Kit, Wilson ETM, 8 rnd"). The spring seems a bit longer than the one I currently have in the 47D magazines but, I suppose it'll work fine-it fits but seems stronger to push all that extra length inside.
