1911 PC Problem

Wow I've never had that problem on mine, simple fix though.
 
Never seen that before, about how many rounds do you have through that piece?
Took another look at the pic, is that a crack or machining line in the back of the housing?

If you're not firing some kind of monster load I would think that S&W would trade that out for a new 1911 or repair yours.
 
I think this is a known problem. Mine is still O.K. but I keep watching for it. They will stake on an new spring housing most likely. This shouldn't happen on a $1.4K (what mine was) pistol from the S&W Performance Center.
 
My guess, like with the Ruger SR1911 front sight problem, S&W may have sourced some bad parts. The loss of that part is a bad thing and can shut the pistol down.
