I have three 1911's chambered for .45ACP. One is fitted with a bull barrel/reverse spring plug. It is the most reliable feeding, and accurate, barrel of the three and I would like to fit it to my main competition pistol.
While the barrel will drop right into the slide, the reverse plug simply will not. It will drop in "backwards" (from the muzzle end) but of course it does not work that way. Try putting it in correctly and the plug is too large for the slide.
The OD of the plug is 0.496" while the ID of the slide is 0.474". I have asked locally but no-one who knows what I am talking about knows if the plugs come in different sizes, and I can't find any online, so I am turning to this august body for advice.
Do I simply have the one that I already have turned down , or can I buy a plug of the correct diameter? If so, from where?
