How does the 1911pd compare to the lightweight commanders available today? Was the pd line a value line? Looking at the S&W websight I don't see a gun that is a direct replacement for the 1911pd, to compare it to.
Thanks, Ed.

The pd is the same gun as the sc except the sc has night sights, bobtail and a larger extractor. I gave almost nine hundred for my pd in 06 and it was worth every penny. The smith e-series 1911 sc will be as close to a pd you can get. Best of luck and hope it works out for you.

Thanks, that is what I thought. The night sights would be nice, but I don't want a bobtail. I found a used 1911pd looks to be a low round count no holster wear at all, two 8 round mags, two 10 round chip mccormick, and an extra set of grips. All for $850, It felt so good in my hand I couldn't say no. I put money down on it and will pick it up on Tuesday. Ed

I accually have 2 1911pd's.the first one i bought for about 700 back when they werent very popular and first came out.I bought a used one about 5 months ago for around 850 i believe. one has regular sights the other has night sights.i enjoy them both and always shot well for me.

Cogrades Ed. You will love your new toy. Mine took a few hundred round's to get broke in and for the shell casing's to quit bouncing off my head. At 28 oz you will forget you have it on you. Also mine is scary accurate while being 100% reiable. Looking forward to the range report and pics.
