1917 .38 M&P Value?

I'm not a pre-war guy, so I could use some help with the value of this .38 M&P, which shipped in 1917. It is rough and tumble, but all of the number match.

It has been both carried and shot a little hasn't it. Still, it ought to bring a quick $250. Is the front sight slightly monkeyed-with? It looks a bit flattened.

If you don't mind my asking, what are the first three digits of its serial number?
 
Yeah, it is a workhorse, and the front sight has been slightly flattened. The serial number is 275xxx.
 
popgun, it is a .38 Spl.

Bedrock, it has two lines of patent information on the top of the barrel.
