2012 is only 13 days old but is shaping up to be a pretty good year so far, as I have picked up 7 good "keepers". Latest acquistion is the Post War 1917 Army. This is one of the 991 guns made. It was listed as a S&W DA 45 and had Pachmayr grips on it, so they used the assembly number as the serial number. It was obvious from the picture to me what it was. So I drove the 100 miles yesterday PM to the auction. I bought 4 guns total, when I sell them, the profit will pay for the S&W and put some additional $$$$ in my pocket. The ride home was miserable in the rain and fog, but at least there was no ice or snow. With the 11% buyer's premium it cost me $416.25 out the door. I was prepared to pay a lot more and was VERY happy when the bidding stopped at $375. I could not wait to get home and get the Pachmayrs off of it. Serial number is S 210573. This is the third one of these that I have found. This one was the cheapest and in the best condition. It is virtually 99.9% original finish, an shows little or no evidence of being fired. To make things even better, we found a small, local pub that had a $1, 8 oz hamburger special on Thursday nights. Wow!!
