2012 is only 13 days old but is shaping up to be a pretty good year so far, as I have picked up 7 good "keepers". Latest acquistion is the Post War 1917 Army. This is one of the 991 guns made. It was listed as a S&W DA 45 and had Pachmayr grips on it, so they used the assembly number as the serial number. It was obvious from the picture to me what it was. So I drove the 100 miles yesterday PM to the auction. I bought 4 guns total, when I sell them, the profit will pay for the S&W and put some additional $$$$ in my pocket. The ride home was miserable in the rain and fog, but at least there was no ice or snow. With the 11% buyer's premium it cost me $416.25 out the door. I was prepared to pay a lot more and was VERY happy when the bidding stopped at $375. I could not wait to get home and get the Pachmayrs off of it. Serial number is S 210573. This is the third one of these that I have found. This one was the cheapest and in the best condition. It is virtually 99.9% original finish, an shows little or no evidence of being fired. To make things even better, we found a small, local pub that had a $1, 8 oz hamburger special on Thursday nights. Wow!!

I got a nice Winchester 94 carbine (flat band), a nice Moisun Nagant 91/30 and a really nice N R Davis 12 ga double. The auction also had an S&W 4506 and a 4566TSW but they went too close to retail price so there would have been nothing left in them for resale

WOW.. love the condition and the ejector rod knob. I'm glad you found and snagged this one. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. OK, so I've never met you. But I bet you're nice.

Congrats.

Roger

I am really not a nice guy!!!!

Nice one Gary! I think I need to move to PA...or at least vacation there more. You're off to a great start to 2012!

VERY nice.
Those are interesting guns. That is about the nicest one I have seen.
Did your other two have the S ??
For those who don't know, all of that batch is reputed to have the modern hammer block. All I have ever seen had the block.
However, some of the guns do NOT have the S prefix on the butt. The last one I had, #2102XX, did not have it, but definitely had the modern block.

Can we get a pic of the hamburger? :D

very nice gary. see you in a couple weeks.

George

I heard that on January 24th, the day of the auction that we are going to have a blizzard in this area with up to 6 feet of snow. It may be too risky for you to travel to the auction. Better play it safe and stay home!!!
