I have a pretty fair idea of what 1917 Smiths in varying condition are selling for. I have no idea what a new unfired piece would bring. Does anyone here know or know the best way to sell one?

Because they're so rarely seen in that condition, it's not going to be easy to estimate a value. Is it a regular military model, or a commercial version? Do you have the original box, paperwork or original accessories?
What else can you tell us about it?

I have an extremely high condition example made in late 1918. It was probably never issued and shows no evidence of use. I've been offered $1750.00 for it by a very motivated buyer, but I'm not really sure where that falls in the current market. No box. Sorry, no photos. It's buried in the safe.

Looking at GB shows two that have sold in high condition for around $2000.

I follow them on GB. Mine is much nicer than the majority of them. The prices are crazy for much lower condition guns.

There is a photo in Keith's book of them being packed is wooden boxes, maybe a dozen or so to the box. I purchased this one from the son of a WWI veteran who said that officers were allowed to keep their sidearms. It looks like he was able to select a new one along with a new Colt Army Special. It also has somewhat figured wood which I've only seen once before.
Thank you for your answers.

I would not be surprised if one as described would go for $2500 +. Hard to estimate since very few are sold in this condition. If you put in auction a bidding war might get it higher than that.
