I got this 1951 k22 last week.....it came with the Bushnell scope and mount and shoots like a laser.....Can anyone here tell me about the scope and mount....like build dates ,rarity etc.

Also , anything about the grips.....they came with it and I really like how they feel....

Thanks

also.....how do I get the pic to show , and not just show the link ?

That's an early handgun scope by Bushnell, probably from the early 1970's when scoping handguns started to become popular and long eye relief optics hit the market. Others were made by T/C and Hudson Corp.

Those stocks could be Harrett's or Sile's. By the look of the wood and the screw escutheon I'd bet Sile.

I actually think I owned that revolver at one time! If so, it was a tackdriver with W-W Dynapoints! Mine got away from me when I was living in Texas in the early 80's.

The scope is a Bushnell Phantom pistol (long eye relief) scope. It came out about 1969. Most were 1.3x, but they also made a 2.5x. I remember seeing them on Ruger Hawkeye pistols and on mounts that replaced the barrel sight on surplus military rifles.

Congrats on the purchase.

One S&W I bought had Herretts very similar to those on it.

That appears to be a tack driver. Shoot us a group some time.

Thanks everyone......great info, like always.

Drew....the gun ended up at a Gun store in Southern Calif. I got a fairly good deal on it (considering how stupid the prices are here ). Its has a bit of light wear but im fine with that as I plan on shooting it. The DA is a bit heavy but the SA is normal S&W perfection. I only took to the range once so far , but it is incredibly accurate.....and I really like the scope set up. The grips are very comfortable , ill probably leave them as -is.

So if you owned it at one time that would be interesting.....I have no plans on selling unless im blind or dead.

To get the picture to show you click on the photo button at the top of the message window (it is a square icon with a mountain and a sun with a yellow sky), then paste the url of the photo in the input box when the icon is punched and then push enter... Nice gun BTW...

I bought a Bushnell Phantom (the 1.3X) in 1974 and put it on my 17-no dash.

Shot many Rockchucks and Ground Squirrels with it. I still have it.

I thought I had to remove the rear sight to mount mine: maybe I'm mistaken.

I had a 2.5X for a Thompson Contender in the late 70's. It held up fine over a 10" 44 mag barrel. If I recall, the optics were decent, or I didn't know any better back then.

That scope is one of two types that use the name "Phantom".
The one pictured by OP has an integrated clamp mount that clamps to a 3/8 dovetail rail. The "base" that is attached to the top strap has the dovetail rail.

There is another "Phantom" that has a rail running the length of the scope (the rail) is part of the scope. This setup has a "base/clamp" that attaches to the top strap but the rear sight must be removed.
Also note the "base/clamp" uses the hole from the front of the leaf and a special "T" nut that hooks in under the slot at rear of strap. A no drill solution for the old non-drilled topstraps.
