1954...a very good year!

I'm also a 1954 baby. In fact, today is my birthday! :D
Congratulations Hawg Rider on an excellent find.

I've searched for years for a birthday gun. I've got S&Ws from 52, 56 & 57, but alas have never been able to find a 1954. :(

Anybody wanna help a guy out here? ;)

I was shipped to this planet in June '54, beating my wife by 64 days. We had that planned. She was actually supposed to get here first but took a wrong turn in Albuquerque... (you'll know the reference)

Closest I have is a very nice June '57 4-screw Pre-29.
Hoping to someday find a '54 K-22 Masterpiece!

Happy belated birthday Grayfox. Wish i could help but I have a soft spot for my early 50's Smiths, especially the aforementioned HP.

Another '54,but my only birth year gun,so far, is a Ruger.

Greetings,I see that your very nice M28 has the weeping front sight ramp corrosion problem, common to the 1954 N frame guns.Sorry!! I have a number of 1954 Smiths, only one has this problem, a pre 27 61/2". It was relegated to personal hunting gun. So sad!!

hibbs: Yes, the Forum member that I bought it from informed me of the issue and I also found some earlier Forum posts (ca. 2019) about this problem resulting from residual bluing salts used by S&W. It is a shame because otherwise it would be nearly mint. I believe that it's been stabilized and will not get worse. I'm not that concerned since it's just cosmetic and doesn't affect function. I don't collect pristine (unfired, NIB) firearms so it fits nicely into my S&W revolver collection.

Ah yes, April of 1954. I had been relaxing on the beaches of Honolulu when I took a little stroll over to the corner of Post and Hotel Streets and purchased a 44 Target, Model of 1950. Oh no, wait. I was only 5 years old. Must have been some kind of dream. Any way, that's when it was shipped there. (Just got my letter. Pictures posted previously.)

That's a gorgeous HP, HR.

I'm here with another great '54. Even though they're named "The Model of 1953" by collectors nowadays, the carbon steel Chiefs Specials didn't begin shipping till June '54.

This nickel one, serial number 47475, "shipped" (more like walked down the hall) on August 30, 1954, to S&W's sales manager H.O. Austin "for demonstration purposes," according to the order.
