1958 K22

I picked this up yesterday, complete with box, cleaning tools, registration card, and sight adjustment tool. What other paper work would have come with it originally? According to factory records, it shipped in June 1958. It is a K22, and has no Model 17 stamp, so it appears to me to be one of the last K22s. I put 200 rounds through it today, and it shoots great! There is a small amount of pitting in one spot on the trigger guard and a really tiny area on the bottom of the grip. Other than that, it looks new. The stocks and box number to the gun. If anyone else has any pertinent information on this, I'd love to hear it! Now for the obligatory pictures:

Nothing to add, but a jealous grin. I have a Mod17 without any of the stuff you have and a lot more wear. It still is a favorite shooter!
That is one sweet revolver!

Well, not exactly. Because of moving to a city with a handgun ban in 1989, I sold all my guns, and I'm starting over. I've always loved the old Smith and Wessons, and started hanging out here a while back. Then I bought the Standard Catalog. Then I started looking. Like most of you guys, there are several things on my want list. I saw the K22 on line, and it screamed "buy me!" It was at the Cabela's in Wheeling, West Virginia. It's not my only gun, but it is my first Smith and Wesson since 1989, and I'm pretty excited about it.

I don't know why I didn't take that picture. I will. So, I got everything but the paper, then. Not bad. I forgot to mention it came with an old holster as well. Nothing fancy - just a nice old field holster. I don't think the previous owner used the holster, as there is absolutely no holster wear on the gun. I don't think it was shot much, either.

As promised, here are a couple pictures of the K22 with everything that came with it. There are two cleaning rods and brushes. I believe one is for a four inch .32 or possibly a .38. The longer rod and brush belong with the K22. Also, that is a George Lawrence Challenger holster. Not a bad package!
