I just purchased 2 S&W revolvers from forum member JHW and 1 S&W revolver from bbtrout, so something has to go.
Up for sale is a second generation Colt Single Action Army .38 Special with a 5 1/2" barrel. According to the Colt website, it was made in 1959. If you are looking for a pristine specimen, this one probably isn't for you. However, it's in pretty darn good shape for being 66 years old and will make a fun shooter or a candidate for a full restoration, if you so choose.
First the negatives: there are a couple of tiny pinhead size spots of rust that should clean up with 0000 steel wool and oil, some wear to the muzzle, some discoloration on the hammer, and a few scratches on the cylinder that were installed by the previous owner who didn't know how to correctly remove/install the cylinder. Lastly, the grips are not original and have been refinished sometime in the past, but they do fit very well.
The positives: The case colors are strong, the bore & cylinder chambers are pristine, the action is spot on and as smooth as silk, and all of the roll marks are crisp and clear.
Priced at $1,600.00 shipped & insured FFL to FFL or C&R. Payment by a US postal money order. I will accept a personal check from SWCA members.
This is also posted locally. All forum rules apply. If you want it, post an "I'll take it" and follow up with a PM or an email.
