I had a doe tag in my pocket and set out with the "ugly duckling" S prefix 29-2 on Sunday evening. I bought this revolver (wearing non relieved diamond targets at the time) for a very good price several years ago and it has been my range and hunting companion since. At some point in its previous life, something was either spilled on it or it was stored (briefly) damp in a gun case. The finish shows small specks of finish loss from end to end, all smooth to the touch with no pitting. It makes the perfect "user." Soon after the purchase, I acquired a set of John Hurst wrap around Target Stocks which fit my hand very well.

Anyway, about 20 minutes before dark, two does strolled into the food plot, and the largest came into ~ 20 yards where I was able to place a nice, double lung shot. She ran 50 yards and piled up and provided the family with more venison for the freezer.

Merry Christmas everyone :)

That's awesome. My 629 goes on doe patrol with me. It's amazing the sense of accomplishment you get from cleanly taking game with a handgun. Especially if it's a favorite handgun. Congrats.

Yes, as mainly a bowhunter, shooting them with an open sighted revolver provides a similar satisfaction that I enjoy. thanks! :)

nice! love the 29-2's I keep my original 1974 for occasional shooting and my 29-10 for range fun. Amazing how accurate they are even out to 50yds with a 6.5" & just iron sites...unfortunately in Canada we cannot hunt with ours otherwise I would scope it and be out there.

Awesome! At this point I've pretty much converted to using a handgun rather than a slug gun during gun season but use my .41 Mag Redhawk with a 2x scope. Even with a scope it's quite rewarding to fill a tag, especially when using your own handloads.
