A young friend recently picked up a VERY clean 1981 (95K serial prefix) with an 8 3/8" barrel..
One interesting thing is although it is apparently a 17-4, it is not so marked on the frame where the serial number is... First time I can remember seeing a 17 without said markings...or maybe I just missed something...
That said...the price was very good because even though the gun looks almost new, someone messed with the front sight and turned the Patridge into a ramp...did a horrible job...
So the question...anyone know of where one might be able to find a Model 17/48 6" or 8 3/8" front sight base/blade that pins to the barrel rib with one pin..
