1989 Honda Gold Wing GL-1500-6 question

I know that many fellow members are motorcycle enthusiasts, I used to race them and day before yesterday I bought a 1989 Honda Gold Wing GL-1500-6 that is missing the side cover that masks the battery.

I have looked on eBay and not found one that is correct, so....my question to all is are you aware of any other source that I might be able to find this side cover? Salvage yards, some one specializing in GL-1500.

I am attaching a photo for all to make sure that I you know exactly what I am looking for.

I have not owned a motorcycle since 1998 and it is taking a bit to get my riding skills up to speed again.....this thing is hefty!

I just did a search of "1989 Honda Gold Wing GL-1500-6 battery cover" and one of the first links that came up was for some oem battery covers on eBay. Try it and see if that is what you are looking for. I would link to it except that might run afoul of the forum rule about linking to active auctions. BTW, it's a BIN for $80.

Motorcycle? My other hobby. 1972 MotoGuzzi Eldorado that my Father bought in 1972. I spent four years restoring the old girl before driving to Sturgis in 2015.

As for your side cover there is a motorcycle salvage yard in Oil City, Michigan. My Father was walking the grounds last weekend and saw a GL1500 there. You should look them up and call them.

If you use Facebook there's a group called "Goldwing parts for sale or trade" .....I bet somebody there has one

Hubby looked at his regular outlet, Honda Direct Line, and the left side covers were not in stock. For reference, an OEM right side cover sells there for 242.87. He took a screen shot so you can reference the part numbers for your body color in your search. Emblems and grommets are sold separately and add up to about sixty dollars. So an OEM cover dressed to install lists for about 300 dollars.
