So I just bought the new 2.0 compact and I'm looking into getting a holster for it. I really want the Alien Gear Shapeshift system, but they don't offer it for this model just yet. However, they do offer it for the M&P 9 1.0. My question is if I bought this system, would it work for the 2.0 compact as well? The 2.0 compact has a length of 4.0" and the 1.0 has a length of 4.25", so if anything it should just be a little long, right....? I tried asking Alien Gear about it, but they just sent me the calender and said that they haven't released it for that model yet. Any help is much appreciated, guys!

I am surprised. They was right on top of the XD-E release. I like the IWB leather backed holster. For 12 bucks you can change the plastic pan out and have it fit another gun. The crossbreed is rivet on.

They have it in other holsters just not the shape shift. I'm not a fan of the shapeshifts bulk for IWB. However as far as I know it should fit. I used a 1.0 serpa holster for a class that required an OWB. It was a little loose in the holster but the retention worked.

OP, i believe that AG has a trial period so guess worst case one could always order something to try and return if it does not work

This is what I think I might end up doing. I've been looking online at what types of holsters have been compatible and, from I've seen, almost all of the 1.0 holsters have been fine with the 2.0. I'm really interested in the Shapeshift system, so I think I'm going to give it a shot.

Was it to the point that the holster would be potentially unsafe? I know you said the retention worked, but loose in a holster just sounds like I'd be asking for it to wiggle itself out. I've seen some horror stories about people who had their guns wiggle out just enough so that the trigger is exposed and then...well. I personally enjoy not having any extra holes in my body.

With a 1.0 it sits in there with no play. With the 2.0 c it can move about 1/16 of an inch front and back and side to side. No up and down movement. I used it for a class whee it was holstered and unholstered repeatedly. We shot 750 rounds that day

Are you a first time gun owner? Don't take this personally as i'm only trying to help and not picking on you. I notice a lot of first time owners (myself included) seem to go towards they hybrid holsters. I will admit many told me to stay away from them but with their popularity i had to try it myself. I thought that it would be convenient owning multiple gun that i could have multiple shells and just swap them. I can tell you that the holster isn't very comfortable. Not as in it hurts but as in it shifts and it's a pain to put on your belt. It's super wide and i noticed it. I bought the OWB holster first and then got the IWB when i realized i didn't like it. I would have just left it at the OWB and moved on. I don't like how so much of my gun stuck out as well which is why they have the backing to it. I was looking for a holster and somebody offered to have me try out their holster with the promise of a review. Ok! What do I have to lose? It was a kydex holster with a belt clip on it. That holster changed my view on them altogether. I won't buy anything other than kydex. It's thin and light, it takes up little space on my belt and it covers the gun totally (If you get a sweat guard) and they ride low, which is what i wanted. The aliengear didn't seem like i could get it to right where i wanted. And they're comfortable despite being all plastic. So anyways, just wanted to put that out there! They're usually a lot cheaper than aliengear and aliengear doesn't make a shell for every gun and if you get a light, good luck with that combo.

Definitely not a first time gun owner. I've been shooting for a good chunk of my life. I am, however, new to carrying. I'll admit that it's the popularity of the hybrids and the success of Alien Gear that's driving me in that direction. I really appreciate the feedback. I think what I'm going to do is try it out, because I'm still really interested, and if in the thirty days all of your concerns have become my concerns, I'll send it back and go kydex. Thanks for the input, everyone! I'll post update on A) whether it fits properly, and B) whether it's as great as the hype says it is.

I'll admit the shape shift system is interesting. I own a 2.0 4.25" with a inforce apl-c on it and a shield with a tlr-6. I bought the aliengear for my plain Walter ccp as well as the plain shield when I first got it. I tried convincing myself I liked it but I just couldn't. Can you post up some pics of this system went you get it? Maybe I will as well of the ones I have

The AG 30 day trial makes it a low risk (postage costs) proposition and as they offer a shell exchange program, they are an attractive option.

I have had an alien gear since they were introduced. I have been told of and tried others, including expensive kydex brands. I'm a chubby guy and I can tell you there was no way for me to carry it iwb that didn't pinch, dig, or cut me. I refuse to carry if I have to constantly adjust or take the gun off to do any activity. The AG is more comfortable for me than all the others. Carried at 5 o'clock I hardly notice it's there. Price isn't an issue for me, I have and had more expensive supposedly better holsters but always go back to this one. It won't win any beauty awards but who cares.

I have an AG OWB paddle holster for my 1.0 fullsize and my 2.0 compact fits perfectly in side. No slop at all. It fits so well I probably won't even buy the correct shell. FYI.

If you like the holster You can swap the shell out when they come out with the 2.0 shell. Ok forget that. The shape shift doesn't have that option like the previous models did.

I don't know anything about AlienGear Holsters. I bought a Blackhawk CQC Serpa OWB holster for my SD9VE. It is the same size as a MP 2 Compact. It is part of an amazing holster system that accommodates all kinds of supports/

I am about to check out Blackhawk IWB holster for the gun. But if you are looking OWB take a look at Blackhawk Sherpa

I can't answer the OP's original question since I have the 1.0 M&P9 Shield, but just a bit of advice based on my experience with Alien Gear -- specifically, the Cloak Tuck -- but I believe this would hold true for their other models...

If you get one, take it apart and Loctite all the screws once you've done your initial fitting. Mine had screws falling out every few weeks until I used the magic blue elixir. Somehow, against all odds, I found the parts that fell off each time. :) To their credit, they do provide a lot of extra parts like screws and spacers... almost like they anticipated stuff falling off. ;)

They actually DO, funny enough. I guess their reasoning behind it is so that each person can customize the holster to their liking without having to fight locked down screws. Then, once you've found the perfect angles, you add a little loctite and it's good to go!

I won't, however, have to worry about that with the Shapeshift. They got rid of the screws and everything is based on some sort of twist-lock system.

I completely forgot about this thread, so I doubt anyone will come back to view this, but I got the Shapeshift system and it works great. It fit the 2.0 pretty much exactly the way I thought it would. The AIWB is a bit bulkier than I was hoping, but functionally, it works. I really enjoy the IWB holster, though. Very comfortable and the adjustability helps a ton. As for the purchase overall, I'm pleased! Hope this answers anyone looking in the future!
