2 1/2" K frame holsters

Here are some examples of holsters for the model 19 and 66 revolvers with 2 1/2" barrels. Their popularity is clear as I run into holsters made for them fairly frequently.
A Myres holster with hammer protector, kip glove leather lining, tie down holes and a heavy duty belt loop.


A Myres holster with the logo obliterated. I don't know if these were seconds but I've seen a number of Myres holsters with the logo scratched or burned off.


This is a holster stamped " K3" but no logo or makers mark. Pigskin lined, basket weave finish- I'm convinced it was made by El Paso Saddlery, even the K3 looks like their stamps.

A Myres IWB lined holster.

This is a Lawrence holster, size code 654 is for a 2 1/2" model 19.

A Myres thumb break holster, this is a later model and holster.

A Bianchi 9R2. Marked .38/.357 to indicate the 2 1/2" K frame. Note the Berns-Martin sticker on the inside.

Beautiful. Those are just great stuff, and thanks for sharing with us. I carried my 2 1/2" Model 66 no dash for the better part of 20 years in a plain old unlined Bianchi "Shadow". That was before I realized that the gun and holster were going to be "collectable", and "vintage" one day. I would have still carried the same gun, as I really liked it then, and still like it, but might have gotten a little more sophisticated rig!!



By the way, I always carried mine with the Tyler T Grip, but it is on loan to another one of my K frames right now. I always liked the way that the "Shadow" kept the gun tight to my body, and high. I could conceal it fairly well under either a suit coat, sport coat, or casual jacket. Also, with a good heavy belt, I felt very secure in the presentation.

Great post Turnerriver! Just in the past couple of years I've really gotten into short barreled K frames. They are just amazing guns but I don't have any holsters for them. Your fine post will be my guide.

A neat Smith, John, and as usual a swarm of gorgeous gun leather. Hard to pick out a favorite there, but that second Myres with the lost logo would probably be my choice.

I dunno, Charlie, I'm partial to the high-riding Myres in the first pic with the nice lining and hammer protector. I prefer a high riding holster for wear under a jacket or sweatshirt.
I carried a 2.5" Model 19 in a semi-shoulder rig (Bucheimer, I think) for a while.

This 'vintage' Bianchi #7 came with a 2" Model 15, but my 3" 10-5 is happier in it.

Works well with my 2 1/2" model 66.

I accumulate and carry J and K Frame snubs (a few Colts too) and use TT Gunleather holsters, almost exclusively. The TT Gunleather KX Lightweight is my favorite (bottom left). Sits deep, proper forward cant, slim, holds firm to the belt, excellent construction.

In looking at my EDC holsters, it appears I'm partial to Galco for my S&W models 60 and 66 snubbies, both in high rise and paddle models. I have custom made holsters that are a degree or more better in detail, but IMO, Galco consistantly produces a high quality product at an affordable price.

The IWB is a Bianchi 100 Profesional, I have one for my J frames and one for my 3914. They work pretty well.

The upside down carry shoulder holster was a favorite of mine. Carried a Python snub gun for several years while on the MD State Police.

Les, I have a Shadow for a four-inch gun and carried it under a short uniform jacket while working security in a pharmacy where the guard was supposed to be unarmed, despite it having been held up several times. I wore the gun under my coat and began looking for a better job!


It HAD to remain concealed, and no one ever noticed, including a gun writer who stopped to shop there. We knew one another and talked for awhile and until I admitted that I was armed and how, he had no clue. He kept my secret.


The gun was a Model 64, but I later replaced it with Model 66-3. That was in 1990, and that M-66-3 has been the most carried of any sidearm I've ever owned. It's in my nightstand now.


When I owned a snub M-19, I used a Safariland M-29, which worked very well. I also favor that holster made for longer barrels when wearing such guns. El Paso's Model 2 is a virtual duplicate of the Safariland Model 29, which is, I think, long discontinued. I'm glad that EPS has kept the design available.
I have a couple of Model 2's and like them very much.


Thanks for showing us your old Shadow Bianchi. Mine shows less wear but I baby all my stuff.

I would really like to have a pair of Bucheimers for my 19/66 snubs to match my J holsters.

Probably from the 1970's. The Bianchi designed for LE. . .no lining. A little hard to find for the K Frame snubs. This 5B holster is so great. Looked forever for one for my wife's J Frame. She had it in a new lined Bianchi. Finally found one also from the late 1970's. Now she carries her gun all the time and has it next to her right now in the living room. I have collected all the vintage high-end holsters for years. This is the best holster I own. . .no flowers, no basket weave, no lining.
