2.99 a lb Chinese buffet

It should also be mentioned that China is a very large country, and there are regional cuisines. "Chinese food" is an over simplification.

Haha american chinese food is not chinese.food specially buffets. But 2.99 buffet???? How do they make money?

Years ago I was stationed at Kadena, AB, Okinawa.
The CIA ran a large Chinese language operation called FBIS and employed a large number of Chinese folks.
The Chinese folks lived in a section of Kadena base housing and they had a club.
The FBIS Club was located in a Japanese command bunker building.
I have eaten Chinese food in a number of places but none was as good as the FBIS club.

There is a large Chinese restaurant in Grenada, Nicaragua. Every year I go, I wind up eating the typical Nicaraguan food there as it is very good-but the Chinese food? No way!I simply don't have enough guts to eat Chinese food nor a hotdog in that country. For that matter, I am awful picky about those two items here in the states.

I have a problem with all Asian buffets. I just have a gut feeling that some of the food has been out WAY too long, like two days. Also one bad gastrointestinal episode told me no more...

Cant quite rmember history but those chinese were transplanted there for construction reasons.

I used to go to an all you can eat Chinese buffet for a reasonable price and it was quite good. My buddies at work and I used to meet there for lunch and have a good meal. Jack was a big man at 350#s and Jason his second at 300# plus. After a few trips with them and seeing them make 4 or more trips and the management complaining I quit going with them as it got embarrassing to sit there and to be late getting back to work late.
Man those guys could eat but other than having a gut they were both big men in decent shape.
I never really knew what I was really eating but instead liked to believe the signs above the dishes.
I also worked in the repair business on restaurant equipment. I could tell tales but won't as we do like to eat out.

There was a stretch in the family business where we remodeled several restaurants in a row.I didn't eat out for years after that...

One day I walked into the Raton KFC.
The grease trap was stopped up.
It was a year or two before I could go into another one.

Many may not know that there are a great many Chinese living in South Texas - and it seems most of them run Chinese restaurants. There were many Chinese living and working as laborers in Mexico prior to the Mexican Revolution, and during the revolution many fled across the Rio Grande. Seems that Pancho Villa felt about the Chinese as Hitler felt about the Jews. Quite a few fell under the protection of General Pershing and came back with him when the U. S. Punitive Expedition returned to Texas.

Used to be all restaurants in the south east were run by Greeks. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find a Chinese restaurant are owned and operated by Greeks.
