Hey gang...Mulehide here. I just spotted a S&W 19-2 with a 2" barrel at a pawn shop. The owner wants $499 for it, but will come down to $435. It's about 95% or better, round butt, pinned and recessed. I went to get the 6" model 19-4, but spotted this snubby. I can get the 6" 19-4 with all of the target stuff trigger, hammer bla, bla, for $345, or the short barrel for about $100 more. "WHAT WOULD YOU DO"??????????

"NOTE" I can't afford them both!!!!!

The snubbies do seem to be more collectible, and I definitely want one. I don't think $435 is a bad price, either.

What shape is the 6" gun in? If it's nice, that's a smokin' deal, I think.

Can't get both?

JK! I really don't know which one I would pick. I already have a 6" and love it, so I would get the other one. Decisions, decisions!

If you want a carry gun that you can shoot out to 25 yards no problem get the 2.5"er.

If you want a range gun that will shoot out to 100 yards with magnum loads but is no fun to carry, get the 6" gun.

Id pick it up, a 19-2 snubbie is a very nice gun, but its bound to be a 2.5" not 2"

try to work a deal on both.....I would

If I could get only one, I would get the 2.5" snubbie. -2's are more collectible as was previously mentioned. Does the 19-2 snubbie have it's original diamond grips? That would be a plus.

Mulehide9:

Sounds like a good price on the 19-4 6"er and I would be tempted by it, But the 19-2 2.5" is one of the holes in my Model 19 collection (I have a 6" -2 and several 4" -2's but no 2.5" -2)... If you decide to pass on the 2.5" -2 I would love to have it (let me know where to run it down...) -

If I remember correctly you are located in AZ. I shot you an email with my contact info.

Thanks,

If you are looking for price data on the model 19 snubby, I just bought the one below a month ago for $445 from a dealer. I think it may be unfired, and came with the box.

If it were me, I'd get the snub, but I'm partial to short barrels.

Tough choice though.

Snubs are definitely hot right now! I searched for months before finally getting a Model 19-4 2.5 incher. Glad I found one!

The 2 1/2" Model 19 was first avaialable as a short run of -2 guns and then later in the same -2 guns. So, the earliest it is possible to own a Model 19 in 2 1/2" is as a -2 gun. I would put a premium on that over a -4 6" Model 19 as the 6" was also introduced in the -2 era.

It doesn't matter to everybody but to some it does. I lose all interest in the 19s by the time you get to -3 or maybe -4.

I for one have zero intrest once they get to -5 and are no longer pinned or recessed.

My presonal opinion is that a -2 is more desirable and collectable than a -4.

but then opinions are like that, everybody has one.
