Charlie, the pleasure has been ours, you have regaled us with true stories from your long career in law enforcement. I heard you speak at one of the Symposiums, you were as entertaining in person as you have been on the forum.
I wish I was in Tulsa to say hello.
Regards,
turnerriver

Adding my thanks, Charlie for sharing some of your LE experiences

I agree with what turnerriver said. We that were in attendance during your presentation were all certainly entertained and laughed listening to you share your experiences, I enjoyed it.

Barq Root Beer Cap?
War Story!
Way back when I stationed in Okinawa, there was Barq everywhere.
But something looked different about it.
We had a severe water shortage and the local soda pop bottling plant opened up to sell us good water.
As we are lined up and headed in, I started noticing the big stacks of empty Heineken Beer Bottles.
Bingo! They were bottling Barq Root Beer in Heineken Bottles!

Sorry I will miss Tulsa this year...while back when they changed the date for Fall Tulsa it is opening day of deer season here in MO. Your posts are always a delight. Here's to another 20!

It has been my quest for several years to spot the orange Barc's root beer hat. I think I may have spotted it once going down the ramp at a high rate of speed. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday on my yearly search.

Anyone that hasn't experienced the Tulsa gun show should try to attend it at least once.

I was so entertained by his writings, that I arranged to meet him. My wife and I were on our way to the Gulf for a week and met Charlie in Hattiesburg. I think he had some fear of Yankees so we met in a parking lot and he brought the late Leland Ray along for protection.

There was a Shonees near by and I asked Charlie if he were hungry, but he said he wasn't. He did agree to go in to get out of the heat. Even thought he was not hungry, he did eat about a gallon of ice cream and most of a pie. Leland Ray spoke to my wife for a few minutes and pulled his S&W J-frame out of his pocket and after unloading it, handed it to her. I had to explain to her, she was in the South. There is a picture of us floating around the forum.

The next time I met him was at Tulsa and I sold him a couple of nickel Smiths. We had a fine time at the dinner.

I take credit for arranging for Charlie to speak at the SWCA meeting in Baton Rouge and he was quite hit.

I have enjoyed his stories for 20 years and hope they keep on coming.

Charlie, I've enjoyed reading your stories for 18 of those 20 years. Have you started writing that book yet?
