Hey guys, knowing we have a lot of knowledgeable car guys here I'm looking for some advice? This is my brothers car.
I have the opportunity to buy this 2015 Z51, with factory equipped Z06, 7 speed transmission (Edit: after research this isn't available on z51, you can only get the Z06 8speed in a Z06, his has to be the Z51 7speed, he is mistaken on this.) from my brother. The car was kept in immaculate condition until a stroke knocked him for a good one. The body's in perfect condition and has never been in an accident.
The car runs perfectly fine, still immaculate on the inside and under the hood and tires are fine, his nephew comes over and drives him around in it sometimes to keep it moving. Brand new factory battery too with less than 50k miles on the car, he babied it until his stroke.
It was gorgeous when shiney and new looking. He wants me to buy it for a brotherly price to keep in the family, but I'm not sure what a "brotherly" price would be and he needs to come up with that price I told him.
What I do know is this car with this mileage and package in mint condition is bringing around $38k-$43k at Carmax, so definately lower person to person.
My question: As you can see the clear needs bad attention to correct or is it at a respray point? I think the paints okay(?) but probably wouldn't know until I started wet sanding on it to bring it back. I can do this, but can't respray if needed.
Your thoughts on bringing it back, is the clear too far gone, no peeling just the hazing you see. That's not dust or dirt, it's faded clear on the hood. The top, how hard is this to bring back? And, a fair price to offer, knowing it might need a possible respray?
I really value your feedback, thanks.

A bit curious about the carmax price price. It seems a bit low

I sold my low milage 15 Z51 Auto, none Z06, Vert to Carvana in 2021 and got a hell of a lot more money for it. (Avatar picture!)

Seems like a good deal to you. Sorry about your brother!

A good detail shop will get that looking showroom new. If the mechanics are in good shape and you get the brother price, why not,
Those C7 manual cars have shot up in value in recent years.Z51 upgrades are desirable. AND its a vert.
I’ve owned vettes for 50 years and will always have one parked in my garage.
Sorry about your brother.

I’m sorry to hear about your brother.

You may wish to inquire with a detail shop about a “paint correction” service. I’ve seen some amazing ‘saves’ on some barn finds.

Yeah, he opted for the conv., but said he passed on the hardtop Z06 for the same price at the same dealership when he bought it. I just posted some of the ones I came across, top one was 39K but it got cut off, but couldn't a clear only respray alone be $5k possibly, I'm thinking? $10k for a whole paint job?
Maybe a personal sale I saw was $35k?

That interior is gorgeous, in a manly way. The paint/clear coat decision would have to be your decision to take it to a decent paint shop. Worse than the paint is it looks like the top was stored folded down. I'm sure the car guys know where to get new rag tops. I doubt they're cheap. But it's a nice car and it IS your brother. Thanks for showing us the car. It's nice.
Also, if an accidental tear should happen on a seat or something, do not put duct tape on it! Good luck with it.

Thanks, unfortunately it's way past that I'm afraid.

Let a good, respectable shop take a look first.

These are not the old Turtle Wax days.

A Z06,raw brute power, would bring a better price but they were rife with issues such as overheating and dropped valves.

Can’t be a “Z51” and a “Z06.”

Corvettes cannot be both a Z51 and a Z06.

“Z51” is an option package on base Corvettes. A Z06 Corvette is a separate model with significant differences in appearance and performance.

Cannot ascertain from the photos exactly what you are considering.

I did own a 2015 convertible with Z51. It was a great car.

More details, please.

Be safe.

No, the tops been up the whole time, just has black stains.

It's not both, it's a Z51 that came with the Z06 7 speed transmission from the factory.

Think I understand …

…but the C7 7 speed tranny is simply that. It is not a Z06 transmission.

PS: Buy it. (Think it’s Night Race Blue” color. It will look great when cleaned up or repainted if need be.)

Be safe.

Gotcha, you know better than me.
Yes, it's a medium blue and was gorgeous when shiney new.
I know it's fast a hell and way fun to drive.
My buddy has this car in silver and automatic in his cigar room, lol. I'll see if I can find a picture and share it.
Personally, I like the lines of the hard top better.

Try taking a clay bar to it . They are made to take the contaminants out of the paint . Afterwards there's no wax left on the vehicle , you have to wax it . Maguire's makes a nice kit , everything you need except for the elbow grease .

Yeah, unfortunately it's way past a clay bar at this point. Color correction is the least likely fix now.
Wrap is an option, but a good wrap is the same as a paint job I hear.

I would have a convertible top company see what they think about it. That top fabric looks like it's getting near replacement time, and I'm guessing a new top would be over 5 grand.
