2024 Corvette E-Ray

Impressive yes. But they’ve ruined yet another American icon.

It doesn’t look like a Corvette. It looks like a European coupe.

Just my opinion.

Which European model?

This one?

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 is set to be the most formidable version of the C8 Corvette, boasting a mid-engine configuration that has redefined the model’s performance capabilities. This new ZR1 will feature a comprehensive aerodynamic overhaul, including an aggressive front splitter and a substantial fixed rear wing designed to enhance downforce and stability at high speeds.

Under the hood, the Corvette ZR1 is rumored to house a twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Speculation suggests that it will utilize the same 5.5-liter block found in the Z06, but with significant enhancements to boost its output to approximately 850 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. This power will be managed by an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring rapid gear changes and maintaining the car’s performance edge.

Recent sightings of the ZR1 testing at the Nurburgring have only heightened anticipation. The rigorous testing on this demanding track indicates Chevrolet’s commitment to ensuring the ZR1 can compete with Europe’s finest sports cars. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how this American powerhouse will perform against international rivals and whether it can set a new benchmark lap time at the famous German circuit.

In addition to its performance upgrades, the ZR1 is expected to incorporate advanced handling features tailored for the track. These enhancements will make it not just a beast on straightaways but also a formidable contender on winding courses.

As the countdown to the July 25 reveal continues, the automotive world is abuzz with excitement. The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is poised to make a significant impact, blending raw power with cutting-edge technology and design. This debut will undoubtedly mark a new chapter in the storied legacy of the Corvette, further solidifying its status as an American automotive icon.

 Looks like I was born about 10 years too early.

With that said it did allow me to be a full participant in the great muscle car era of the mid 60s to early 70s!:D

I looked this guy up, never having heard of him. Quite a character, and an early advocate of the mid engine Corvette:

Hmm. If link above doesn't work, try Googling "The Story of Zora Arkus-Duntov, the Bad-*** Who Made the Corvette an Icon" It's a Car and Driver article.

The man dreamed of the idea, I’m sure he is quite ecstatic..

His remains are buried at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.

The ZR1 Euro exotic slayer, actually 7 of them including a cutaway, from reports, will be in Carlisle PA in 4 days.

Well, I could probably only sit in that thing for 30 minutes at a time. Not saying I don't think it's cool. But, if I was going to spend that kind of money it would have to be on a 55-60 year old Shelby. It's not the money, my wife's last vehicle cost that much. It can go 0-60 in about 12 seconds, pulling a 4 horse living quarters trailer. No horses though.

Being a practical type who does most of his own maintenance, I have to wonder how one reaches the engines in those mid-engine beasts. The race cars are generally pretty easy with the rear body work being easily (relatively) to remove.

Maybe it's another of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" things.

Oh, where's the spare? Or is it another "if you have to ask" things? I imagine a bad tire on a road trip is gonna "be an issue". I recall a back & forth between an MB driver and the local tire shop decades ago. The guy just couldn't understand why they didn't stock the required tire. He ended up with a motel stay.

Imagine GM making a retro (with, of course, some modern components) '67 Corvette, the last of the good looking ones. Would there be a market? Would they be priced out of reach for most folks?

Having had a few Vettes..the first a 58...then a 62...then the 63 SW and a 66 Convertible w /HT...The most fun one was the 66. The 63 I should have kept.. After 67 they went to Hell in a handbasket. The Coupe was a great car...but too hot in the summer....so was the 64 Jag...and more needful of maintenance...The one real classic I should have kept was the 57 T Bird w/HTop
