I'm a newbie reloader. At the ripe age of 56, I've found a new hobby. :)

I am loading for .44 Special and Magnum. So far, I have used 240 grain LSWC and both Unique and 2400 powders.

I have a box of 215 cast bullets from Bear Creek. I stumbled upon some load data at a site called Castpics. Do these look safe for use in a Model 29-2?

The special load with a start of 16 and max of 19 using 2400 powder is what looked too hot to me. Or maybe it is because I am used to looking at load data for the heavier bullets.

Thanks for any advice. I want to be safe, not sorry!

It's probably safe,but I didn't check it against my manuals ;-).
I used to use a 240 gr jacketed soft point with 19-20 gr of 2400 in a super blackhawk,s&w 629 and colt anaconda with no problem.

Id srart with mild loads of unique. If you're planning on pushing them hard with 2400 the bullets need to be hard. Look for a bhn number. Keep an eye ouy for leading.

Thanks, this is for the Special casing, so I was not sure if too much pressure would be created.

Mine are for 44 mag brass.Don't load those in 44 special! :-)
Lyman # 46 shows 13-14.5 gr of 2400 with a 215 gr lswc in 44 special brass.I'd be cautious too.

I have loaded 240 JSWC on top of 13.5 grains of 2400 in the special for several years. Nice load. You should be able to go a little heavier on the load with a lighter bullet but I would be a little hesitant on going much heavier in the special.
