That's a Pre-Model 35 from about 1956 or 1957. Nice gun!
I don't know about scoping I-frames, but I guess anything is possible. It's really a matter of whether the small frame could support a scope mount reliably.
Why ever would you want to scope it? Heaven forbid putting drill holes in such a beautiful piece of S&W craftsmanship. My lovely wife and I just spent this afternoon at the range riddling tin cans with her 22/32 (ca 1956, the same age she is) without any help from a scope.
please don't even try putting a scope on that wonderful
little revolver. pre model 35's and model 35's are not the
easiest firearms to locate. you have a gem there and if
you want a scope on a 22lr find a model 17 or a 617.
That's a beauty! It's a Model of 1953 .22/32 Target which became the Model 35 in c. 1957; the last version of the I frame and became a J frame in 1961 as the Model 35-1.
Yes, a scoped Model 34. Never could understand it though.
I have a k22 that has the clamp on style scope base. I hunt with it. just wondering if anything like it was made for the I frame. Some shots in big trees can be 70/100 feet. Tough to shoot a squirrel in the eye at that range.. Dont want to wast meat with a body shot, and its to easy.
I also use a high standard military tournament, and winchester 52, I like nice 22s..
