22 ammo prices

No,I pay wholesale and because,of thegun control members of congress that brought this up that is why the prices have gone up. I am a wholesaler. Dealers buy from us and, we give them cost plus 10% on .22's. Even magnums. What ever the dealers do is the problem also. Like I said in a previous thread about the pricings on.22's,DO NOT BUY UNTIL THEY LOWER THE PRICES.These people who bought during the rush to buy and, then sell them at stupid high prices are the problem like the anti gunners in congress. Just watch if in November, the repubs or independants win and the 2nd admendment stays right where its at. So thats all I have to say. I know in the.357 100 rd. boxes by win and remington are to high also.Even there 50 rd boxes are a tad high or lower depending on where or what lgs you go to. I am a wholesaler myself.

Went to a gun show in Charlotte, NC today and found the 22 ammo prices still out of sight. Bucket of bullets $165.00 . Brick of thunderbolts $65.00. I wasn't looking for any since I have enough right now but it was interesting checking out the prices.

That's nothing................I was at a gun show 2 years ago and some idiot was trying to sell 225ct boxes of Remington Golden Bullets (the same ones Walmart sells for $10.97) for $45.00 each.
What I found most intriguing was, Walmart has a limit of 3 boxes per customer, per day. The Walmart closest to the gun show, had 3 boxes the day before which were gone the day of. He only had 3 boxes of the stuff.

I got really lucky this week. My kids wanted to go shooting and my dad over heard our planning conversation. He let us know that my grandfather had sent over about 5k rounds of .22s for the kids! Thanks Pop-Pop!

About 6 months ago I paid 70.00 for a bucket, a dealer five miles away wanted 100.00. Just picked up 3 525 value packs of Federals for 25.00 ea. They were limit one to a customer I asked the manager what the policy is for ammo purchases she said one per transaction you can come back 10 times a day and make another buy. three is enough for me. They must have had a load of them they lasted from Sunday to Thursday before they were sold out. usually they last about 1 hour

I happened into getting four 500 rnd bricks @ Dicks the other weekend @ $24.99 each over two days. I guess they got a bunch in and only put out so much each day on Sat, Sun, then into the week to spread it out. They are opening a Gander Mountain in the fall this year in town so I hope that brings in a better supply.
Dicks is where I got mine . they seem to be the only honest dealer around

Thats one explantion and yet when I talk to shop owners I'm told their distributors are gouging them simply because they can. They also wondered how these other outlets were getting ammo and now 22 when they are told nothing was available. It's been going on since Jan 2013.

We the consumer have been taken advantage of as a result of political talk and actions which caused a spike in new gun owners that was far in excess of manufacturing capacity. Both old and new gun owners went on a buying binge that is still going on today some 20 months later. The supply chain broke and people from the manufactures to the LGS's have taken advantage of the situation and to absolve themselves of blame they have blamed the end user.

A flyer is good but what good if they have no rimfire ammo in stock when you go on the site? All they show on the site is 50 round count boxes of CCI rimfire ammo and the only one in stock is the 17 Mag. Nothing in the flyer is on their site and the 17 Mag is $6.99, not $4.99 like they claim.

Sorry that I didn't notify you sooner...

Cabela's told me the same thing as ladyt said. Iwas told that on Monday,Wedensday, and Fridays when their shipment of .22s comes in at 9:30,its all gone. Wrong, its in the back room. I have seen it myself.

Well I guess the multipal bricks in front of me are imaginary.

Here in northwestern Oregon, Warrenton infact, the local Fred Meyer sporting goods department had no .22lr ammo. The salesman said they only received 4 100 round packs last week and they were gone that day. I asked how many rounds for the next shipment. He did not know when or how many.

It just seems out of place to me. Fred Meyer had plenty of .223 ammo, pistol ammo, and loads of shotgun ammo. You would think after 1 1/2 years of this shortage of .22 lr ammo there would be more available. When I was a kid back in the 1960's you could go to the local general store, or hardware store and buy all the .22 lr ammo you wanted and it was always in stock....

Yeah, I also remember just a few years ago, when I could go to Walmart and Federal, Winchester and Remington 550 bulk packs for $7.00 each and never felt the need to buy more than one per visit because, I knew they'd always be there the next time.

What a bunch of thieves, the one and only bucket I was able to get was 69.99 about 5 months ago. Prices and availability around here are the best I've seen in months, The last 22 ammo I got last week was Federal champions 24.99 for a 525 brick. got 4 of them

Until the ammo manufactures get it in their heads that there are now 15-30 million or so more gun owners than a few years ago and most of them purchased .22 lr firearms nothing will change. Also the 10's of thousands of .22 conversion kits for the AR15 and pistols as well obviously run on .22 lr ammo as well.

More dedicated plants need to be built to manufacture .22 lr ammo, the current status quo obviously does not work as this shortage is now over 1 1/2 years, thats a long time for any shortage.

The idea of hoarding is not true. Millions of more .22lr firearm owners need millions and millions of more .22 lr ammo.

The ammo companies just don't get it. If they did there would be no shortage of .22 lr ammo this late in the game.

A CCI rep told me they had a meeting and believes the ammo is in basements etc. They flat out said they would not invest in equipment that was going to sit idle. Remington added an addition on there ammo plant ,that is now started production. I am seeing a lot of rems lately. BiggB

SO where does your thinking reside these days.

I don't shoot much .22, never have. I had a couple hundred rounds in the stash when the panic hit. I've always been of the "stop on the way to the range and get $20 of .22"

Now that the girlfriend likes to shoot .22, I will have to stock up. I've managed to find a box here and there under 10 cents per round so that has kept her happy.

We have a mix-n-match of about a thousand rounds now. I will keep buying .22 at reasonable prices when it drops a little more to put 15k-20k rounds of good .22 into the stash, and replace it as we shoot it.

I'm comfortable with the handgun and long gun ammo put back, just never dreamed .22 would dry up like it did.

I think the supply is starting to return, the gougers have duped the new shooters as much as they can. The older shooters (me) won't pay stupid prices and will keep supply a little on the short side, either stocking up a little or replenishing what was shot during the panic.

November elections will be telling? I think there is a good chance the Republicans keep the house and take the Senate. The problem is a lame duck in the oval office that could still do damage through executive order and minions in the EPA. I don't see black helicopters, but I also don't see enough Republicans stepping up in the House and Senate to stop this inane stupidity.

went in the local Dick's store today and they had a lot of 22's from American eagle, I couldn't believe it when the salesman said that they were "40" count box's. the only good part was, 1-they had 22's and 2- they were $2.49 a box limit of 3. last week they had Remington golden saber 525 count for $24.49. maybe there is a very small light at the end of this tunnel...
