OK so a lot of talk and oppioun on the best bullet for the jet. So in a model 53 what do you all load? I know a lot of info is out there for the contender....but this is for a k53. I have a hand full of old style 222 jet jsp. But I will need to stock up when I can.

I shoot both .222 and .223. I also shoot both 40 gr and 45 gr. I prefer the .223 hornet 45 gr bullets for accuracy as they are a better fit for my cylinder throats. I use the .222 40 grain bullets for plinkers and I don't hotrod any jet loads.

I'm looking for less then Max loads. I'm mostly target and linking with it,so I don't need max

You're going to have to test to satisfy yourself. There is so much diversity of opinion on this forum about this topic that it's going to be hard to figure out what to do. :D

If you are primarily interested in accuracy, you will find that cases and primers will have a considerable effect on your results - much more so than when loading, say, .357 Magnums. Trying to isolate just the bullet is going to call for some pretty skilled shooting - and the use of new brass.

As to larger than standard diameter bullets (i.e., those larger than 0.2225") be sure that the bullets you select will pass through the exit bores of your cylinder's chambers without undue resistance. If you can't easily push them through with a cleaning rod or something like that, I would not use them.

If you really want to get going on this, you can follow the lead of one of our members who has made a sizing die so that he can adjust the size of any common .22 centerfire bullet for use in his Jets. It's too much trouble for me, but I admire his determination. :D

I did see that thread on resizing the jacked bullets. Not sure I want to go there just yet

I am about to cast a large batch of .222 & .223 bullets with gas checks for the Jet, if the weather ever warms up and quit's raining. If your interested in trying some let me know, seeing as how your not interested in ultra high velocity these may be helpful. I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can get these to do, I don't need 2,000fps either, just a good practice load.

Ive been looking into that myself. Ive been spending a lot of time over at Cast Boolets board, reading up on casting for my 38/357, and poked around a little for info on the jet. id love to hear how it works out for you, and what kind of load you are going to run behind it. Im just getting set up for loading, and am cutting my teeth on the 38/357 before i give the jet a try. but as of now I have some 2400 ear marked for it, and enough magSP primers to load all my cases [about 400] I only have about 75 bullets though, so thats my next buy when I can.

What mold are you planning on using? What are you planning on sizing them at?

K53, just a friendly suggestion. Do not prime all your cases with those primers just yet. I have always found primers to be a really big deal with the Jet. You may want to try other types. Magnum small pistol primers would probably be last choice based on my experience with the Jet, but as I said, there is a lot of variation in "experience" as you go from person to person. :)

thats a intresting outlook. Most loads I have seen listed them. I had them given to me, so Im not out any money if I end up finding something that works better. I still have some time, and study to do before I load my jet, so for now Im open.
