Took my S&W 248 out into the desert today and used some new (to me) 22 mag ammo from the Check Republic (Sellier&Bellot).
I have had good luck with their 357 mag ammo so I bought 500 rounds off the internet.
What a mistake!
22 mag ammo is routinely dirty, I expect that, but this stuff is ridiculously filthy! After each 6 rounds I have to eject the casings with a whack from the palm of my hand, and then clean under and around the star with a toothbrush. Or the cylinder will not close.
Do your selves a favor and stick to CCI....

That is good to know. I have had good luck with S&B .380 so they must use a different powder or it is in the lube.

I just bought a brick of Armscor .22 Mag. Haven't had a chance to try it in my Ruger Single Six or Colt Peacekeeper, but will report out when I do.
Anyone try this stuff?

Armscor 22 Mag.
Works fine in my 648 and Colt New Frontier. A few hundred rounds of it through each.
Not so hot in my Taurus 941, but then that P.O.S. doesn't work worth crab no matter what ammo I try.

Haven't tried it in my S&W 650, yet. I use mostly CCI in that one.

Answering a different question, I know, but the Armscor .22LR does not adequately cycle my Beretta Neos. Jamamatic. Works fine in my S&W 22S.

I have never had anything but trouble with S&B ammo...30 M1 carbine split cases...223 was so dirty it puked up an AR-15 so bad that the weapon wouldn't cycle after just 12 rounds...22LR would not feed at all...not the ammo for me!!!! Reminds me of BSA scopes....

I had some S&B .22wmr a few years ago that was good ammo in my 48's. Shot well, ejected well and wasn't abnormally dirty. Too bad they have dropped the quality.

I stick with Hornady, CCI, and Winchester for the 22 magnum. Only problem is that it is about impossible to find. Every time some comes in to any LGS around here I buy a few boxes. . .don't want to be greedy because everybody seems to need it. I've been doing this for 2 years now and have a pretty good supply of quality ammo.

Same for me on CCI and Winchester. My rifles shoot these brands with great accuracy. My Ruger American 22 mag is super accurate with the 40 H.P. stuff. Gettin easier to findout my way too.

Thanks for the review of S&B. It's a shame we are still in the position of buy what you can rather than what you want.
Central Michigan - 22 WMR has improved from scarce as hen's teeth to just scarce. CCI/Hornady is what's available mostly with the 30 gr bullets. It's started to show up at a big box retailer, Dunham's, so there's hope.

I've tried some Armscor out of my model 48 with very mixed results. To me
It seems to be all over the target out to 25yrds. Where as the Hornady and CCI are both spot on. I think that I'll just save whats left for the rifle and stick with Hornady or CCI. I've heard good things about the Remington 22wmr but like every place else, there hasn't be any 22 mag on the shelves in a loooong time.

Armscor is great. I use it in my Single Six

I haven't seen any .22 mag for sale locally in 3 years. Where can I get some?

I see it on the Cabela's page fairly often. At the Cabela's & GM local stores, it is rare to see. WM had some a few months ago, and early this year Academy had it for a while in the CCI 200-round boxes.

.22 Mag

I have a 351PD. I get cases of CCI Maxi Mag Velocity + 30 grain hollow points for like $9.00 a box. Its a little pricey but they shoot to point of aim and i have had 200 round range sessions thru the little 351 without a sticking case, unburned powder issue or any other functioning problems.
These rounds are snappy, clean and fast.
They are also my summer carry round in my summer carry 351PD.

Sorry about the dirty ammo but it is nice to know that it is 2nd rate ammo for the rest of us.

You only have to load that ammo, 83 more times............

Good luck with that.

Where are you getting .22 mag? My wife has a 351C, and a friend has one of those new Rugers that hold 30 rds. The Ruger owner blows thru ammo faster than you can believe.
