.22 Mag. out of 6" barrel... for self defense?

I wouldn't be so worried about the caliber as I would be the choice of a SA revolver for the task at hand - home defense.

In the hands of a WELL practiced man, the SA is a pretty fair weapon. However, I think a double action revolver is a far superior choice.

As far as caliber goes, I carried an FN FiveseveN in 5.7 x 28mm and both bullet weight & ballistics are quite similar to .22 Mag. I didn't feel undergunned. Of course that might have been due to the 20 rounds in the gun and a spare 20 round mag on my hip, but I digress... :)

I was thinking along those lines too. Hope he doesn't need to reload, would be mighty slow...

Anything's better than nothing, I suppose, as others have said... but he's marginal both on weapon choice AND caliber.
