Would this be possible? I would love to have a 351C for a deep carry BUG, but .22 magnum isn't cheap. A .22 LR conversion cylinder would be great for plinking/practice at the range.

I have an old (non-S&W) single action with both .22 Mag and .22 LR cylinders. The barrel is bored for .22 Mag (slightly larger than optimum for .22 LR.)

Not only is the .22 LR POI way off from the sights, the .22 mag and .22 WRF (fits .22 mag cylinder) are more accurate than the .22 LR from this gun. So the .22 LR cylinder seldom gets used.

I don't know how common this problem is with various .22 conversion guns.

The .22 Magnum is one loud cartridge from a 2" barrel. It does have a slight advantage in velocity over the .22 LR.

I'd be looking for a .38 Special ScTi like the 342 PD as a back up, close to same weight.

I always thought that the only difference between .22 WMR and .22 LR was the case size.

There goes that idea...

+1 I don't have much good to say about the .22 Magnum in revolvers and the shorter the barrel the less good there is to say. Loud, horrendous muzzle blast and flash, poor ballistics, and expensive to shoot.

Do not give up on your wish, there have been many who posted great results from the .22 Magnum revolver with the .22 LR cylinder installed. These guys that are not in favor all have valid points and I'm not disputing their positions. The barrels on the other revolvers were longer than 2" and the expense of plinking/practice was considerably less, the up side. Never forsake your dream.
